A BASSINGBOURN Village College pupil is celebrating after claiming two golds at the 2008 Eastern Region Swimming Championships.
Alex Raine, 14, won the 800m and 1500m freestyle events at the annual meeting in Norwich at the weekend.
He races for the Biggleswade-based Mid Beds Swim Squad and is now preparing for the national championships in Sheffield next month.
Alex said: "I was really pleased with the two wins and it was a very good race.
"I also won a silver medal in the 11-14 boys 4x200m relay, so it was a good day.
"I'm now concentrating on doing well at the national championships.

"It will be the third time that I've competed at them, and I have yet to win a medal.
"It's always very tough, but I'm going to push for a medal and definitely a top 10 finish.
"Whatever the result, it will be a good competition, and I'm going to be looking forward to it.
