Geraghty bags a hat trick

ROYSTON Celtic Crusaders under-14s cemented their position at the top of the league with a 5-0 win over a strong Littleport side.

Ryan Geraghty opened the scoring, then added a second and a third before allowing his team mates to join in. Sam Cooper and Victor Valleta got the fourth and fifth.

Justin Leavers put Royston Celtics ahead against Royston Town Youth. Leavers then set up Richard Jonas for the second and Lorcan George made it 3-0. Overall it was a good team performance by the Celtics but they were unable to add to their score before the end of the game.

Royston Town Youth's under-eights winning streak continued with both the A and B teams recording wins against Knebworth.

The A team won through with two goals by Louis Harward, but Theo Reed was just as good, and the B team won 8-0. Their goals came from Thomas Allen (three), Jamie Judge (two), Daniel Goom, Jack Wilkerson and Jake Gifford.

Melbourn Dynamos under-10s Panthers were unable to break the deadlock against Stevenage Youth in what was a thoroughly entertaining game.

Both sides were committed to the cause and the match finished a creditable 0-0.

Melbourn Dynamos under-nine's Panthers rose to the challenge in a tough group to win through to the second round of the League Cup. A win and a draw earned a play-off against Hitchin which went to penalties. Melbourn held their nerve with Alex Goodfellow, Ryan Barton, Martin Downey and Ben Greenaway scoring and Theo Windred saving to win the spot kicks 4-1.

Melbourn Dynamos under-nine's Tigers faced some strong opposition in the League Cup. They defended solidly to earn a well deserved draw with Hitchin but their Cup run for this year was ended by some very strong attacking play from the other teams in their group.

Ashwell Academicals under-eights recorded a fourth consecutive win by beating Bassingbourn 3-0. Their goals came courtesy of Luca Panico, Conor Browne and an unfortunate Bassingbourn player.

After a month without a match Bassingbourn under-11s got back to business with a good 3-3 draw against Hormead Hares Blacks. Evan Goldman (two) and Charlie Colling got Bassingbourn's goals.

Hormead Hares' under 10s Oranges lost for only the third time this season in a top of the table clash against Baldock Town Lancers.

Despite an energetic performance the Oranges lost 2-1, with Max Kerr scoring their goal.

The under-10s Blacks had a more comfortable game and ran out 4-0 winners against Baldock Town Knights. Harry Jarman bagged a first half hat trick and Michael Hicks added a fourth.

Buntingford Cougars under-sevens Whites beat Hatfield 1-0 courtesy of an own goal, but on reflection they deserved the win. The Cougars Blues also beat Hatfield, this time 2-0 through Harisson CS and Luca Romanatti-Manning.

Their under-eights side beat Biggleswade 1-0 with Jack Saggers grabbing the goal, their under-nines won twice against Knebworth 3-0 (goals from Ben Hall and Isaac Perry (two)) and 3-2 (Jamie Savage (two), Frank Bown)

The Cougars' Whites and Blues took part in the preliminary round of an under-nines tournament and both teams went through.

The Cougars under-11s Blues beat Bishop's Storford 2-1 to go back top of Division One with Matty Moore scoring both goals in the first half, and the under-11s Whites took all three points from Eynesbury with a 2-1 win with goals from Will Hewer and George Woods.

Buntingford Cougar's under-13s Whites lost 4-0 against Eynesbury as both team battled windy conditions, but they put in a good performance and deserved something from the game.

The under-14s played a double header against Wymondley and won both games.

The first match was won with a single goal from Ryan Newey and two goals from Darren Aldridge secured the second game.

The Cougars under-16s blasted four goals past St Neots Youth, who were unable to respond.

Scott Piggott opened the scoring, Tom Dolden added to it with a header before George Garrott and Steve Archibald finished the scoring.
