Royston Hockey Club held its annual dinner and awards presentation night at The Heath Sports Centre and around 100 members attended.

Vicki Bidwell won the ladies' first team's Player of the Year award following an excellent season and the second XI's Player of the Year award was presented to Katie Ellard by Ian Birch in memory of his wife and past ladies captain Jill who died earlier this year.

The ladies third XI award went to Jessica Woodhouse.

The men's Player of the Year awards were presented by club captain Nick Broadley with the first team award going to Nick Hurd and the second team to Ian Harper.

Josh Jamieson, Steve Welding and Peter Gibson won the awards for the third, fourth and fifth XIs.

Following the presentation of the Neville Brown Trophy last week to Josh Hughes as the best young player, additional awards were made at the dinner with Laura Simpson winning the most improved young female and Sam Polge winning the Most Promising Young Male title.

Club chairman Guy Nankivell presented the other awards on the evening with Lisa Thompson winning the Ladies Club Member of the Year trophy for her efforts in being club captain and her unstinting support for all the teams and the youngsters, and Nick Broadley winning the mens' Clubman of the Year.

The final award of the evening was the Club Personality of the Year which is awarded by the committee to the person who has shown outstanding effort on behalf of the club during the year.

The prize went to Colin Smith (pictured above receiving the award from Mr Nankivell) who was instrumental in leading the team that organised the club's 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner last summer.
