FOXTON surged into the top half of the table with a 98-run victory over Fordham on Saturday.

Despite what the scoreline suggests, there was a tense finish to the match with only 16 balls left when Fordham’s last wicket fell.

Fordham won the toss and decided to bowl and quickly took the wicket of the in-form John Procajlo (8). Antonnel Atwell hit a superb 66 wile Lawrence Farnum chipped in with a decent 26.

Cei Sanderson (105*) hit a magnificent maiden century before skipper Sid Sabey declared the innings on 284-8.

Any hope of a Fordham victory was soon dispelled when they lost four wickets for 44 runs after 12 overs. Resistance from Reece (30) and Darren Theobald (37) gave them hope of salvaging a draw. Jason Harding proved stubborn with a knock which lasted an hour-and-a-half, but after he was dismissed, Foxton wrapped up the tail.

Jeffery Douglas was the visitors’ top bowler with 4-30, and was ably supported by Andy Gray (2-36) and Max Bowen (2-41).
