HORMEAD Hares under-10s clinched the Royston Crow Division C title with a superb 3-2 victory away at Albion Youth.
A bright start by Hares saw them create a number of early chances. The midfield trio of Ewan Edwards, Luke Barker and Craig Brett covered every blade of grass between them and were always a constant threat.
After 12 minutes a quick passing move between Robbie Levy and Brett released Edwards who fired in a cross shot that deflected off an Albion defender and over the line past the despairing keeper.
Shortly afterwards the move of the match saw keeper Callum Macdonald roll the ball to James Nightingale whose cross-field pass was picked up by Page on the left wing.
Edwards skipped past a couple of defenders before crossing for Barker who unleashed a first time shot into the back of the Albion net to give Hares a 2-0 lead at the interval.
Hares went three-up two minutes into the second half when an inch perfect Edwards cross was headed in by Barker.
With 10 minutes left Hares introduced a couple of substitutes, however this seemed to unbalance the side and allowed Albion back into the game with two breakaway goals.
With Hares needing to hold on to victory to clinch the title some superb defending by Joe Parrott ensured the defence was not breached again.
The final whistle blew to shrieks of delight from the Hormead supporters.
This was Hares 13th straight victory and in a season of 24 matches they have won 22, drawn one and lost one.
