FOXTON went top of the table after another home win at windswept Foxton Rec.
With Adam Fields replacing the injured Chris Aristo, Foxton created problems from the start, with the pace of Chamberlain and Fields down each wing too much for the visiting full backs.
However, Foxton struggled to get a breakthrough, with Duncan Handscombe and Gray both wasting good chances when through.
It was Hanscombe who did finally break the deadlock after 30 minutes, when he received the ball 20 yards out, and took one touch before curling a shot around the diving keeper and into the corner of the net.
With the wind spoiling the game for both sides, it became a srappy encounter, with most of the game in midfield, and neither side managing to test the keepers, but Foxton held on for three points and another clean sheet.
Foxton's run of home games continues in the cup on Saturday when Fulbourn are the visitors.
Foxton: Kimsey, Clark, Haynes, Audley, Tokely, Flack, Chamberlain, Webber, Fields, Gray, Handscombe. Subs: Spina, Clayden, Cambridge.
Cherry Hinton 1
Fowlmere Metals 4
AFTER another disappointing result for Metals last week, league leaders Cherry Hinton were going to prove a tough test.
They came out of the blocks a lot quicker than Metals, and took an early lead.
That seemed to wake up Metals, and within 10 minutes they were 2-1 up, with Ricky Crotty blasting in from 18 yards and Dave Plester firing into an open net from six yards.
Metals continued to dominate and five minutes before half time they extended their lead with a superb individual goal by leading scorer Adam Stokes.
Soon after half time the game was effectively ended when Bradley Jackson struck home from 20 yards.
Metals continued to dominate and if it had not been for poor finishing the score might have gone to double figures.
Metals face a tough cup tie this week at home to XPO.
Fowlmere: D Coughlin, O Mcgrath, S Plumb, J Thurley (R Ellis), D Plester, P Stokes, T Woods, B Jackson, D O Farrell (F Beck), A Stokes, R Crotty (R van Der Merwe)
