A SUPERB second half comeback saw Foxton take all three points against their mid-table opponents
Ian Tokley, Carlow Lawrence, Matt Hayden and Adam Fields were the scorers as second-placed Foxton won their third game in a row to keep the heat on league leaders West Wratting.
The pitch was deemed playable and was in a reasonable condition apart from the centre circle where a snowman had stood all week but to add to Foxton's wait to get some minutes under their belt the game was delayed 15 minutes to allow for the late arrival of the Wisbech who had been stuck in traffic.
Their late arrival didn't seem to affect Wisbech however and they were soon into their stride spraying passes around and were the first to score when Aaron McKenna found himself in space just inside the Foxton area from where he deftly chipped the ball over the stranded Jamie Chamberlain and into the net.
Foxton tried to get their own game moving and although they began to pass the ball around better and created some attacking opportunities, they were guilty of not testing the Wisbech keeper.
Not content with their early goal Wisbech continued to put pressure on Foxton and they went close to doubling their lead and possibly would have had it not been for some last ditch tackles from the back line and smothering saves from Chamberlain.
After playing poorly Foxton seemed content to go in at half time only 1-0 down and the start of the second saw them determined to make amends.
And they did; they were level within three minutes of the restart thanks to Tokley who seemed to have magic in his boots as he silkily weaved through the Wisbech back line and finished.
Now back in the game, it wasn't long before Foxton were soon in the lead through a Lawrence header following a Chris Aristo corner.
Keen to keep pressure on the away team, manager Andy Cambridge decided to introduce a couple of fresh legs in Dan Hoggarth and Max Margiotta and with only his first touch Hoggarth made an immediate impact when a Wisbech player kicked out at him in the box and a penalty was given.
Matt Hayden stepped up and converted to take the score to 3-1.
Adam Fields who had been unlucky not to have scored on a couple of occasions after some clever Hayden through balls finally got his goal when, reminiscent of his opposite number, he chipped over the keeper and into the top corner from a shallow angle to finish the scoring.
Andy Cambridge said: "It was pleasing to finally play a game and pick up another three points.
"We didn't start the game particularly well and were not at the races throughout the first half and possible fortunate we weren't losing by more at half time.
"I think a goal in the first few minutes of the second half really helped us settle and gave us the lift we needed to bring us back to life.
"Then once we got ourselves 2-1 in front it was good we were able to stay in control and go on to get the win."
Foxton: J Chamberlain, D Chamberlain, Ranner, Handscombe, Tokley, Lawrence, Aristo, Hayden, Wellstead, Fields, Davenport. Subs: Hoggarth, Margiotta, Ogilvie, Webber.
