THE under-10 Templars went out of the county cup at near neighbours Letchworth after their fourth round match went to penalties.
In normal time a second half Charlie Briggs goal had brought the scores level, but with no further goals in extra time the match finished 1-1. However it was the home team which kept its nerve to go through 2-0 after the penalty shoot-out.
In the Royston Crow League the under-10 Knights swamped Stevenage Borough Tigers 6-0, while the Lancers and Boro's Blues shared the points after a 1-1 draw.
The under-11 Templars got back to winning ways with a convincing win over Division One strugglers Melbourn Dynamos. A hat-trick from Jordan Massey was the highlight in a 4-0 victory which also saw Connor Doyle get his name on the score sheet.
The under-11 Knights and Lancers both suffered defeats, with the Knights losing 5-3 at FC Comet and the Lancers 5-0 at Bedwell Rangers.
Neither the under-12 Templars nor Wymondley Park could find the target in their Division One match, with both sides having to settle for a point in a goalless draw, while the under-12 Knights were beaten 3-1 by Stevenage Borough despite a Conor Clarke.
Two goals from Josh Beeson and an Alec McGuire goal helped the under-13 Lancers continue their improved form with a 3-1 win at home to Thaxted.
The under-14 Templars were pipped by an odd goal at Potton, with Tyron Saunders grabbing the visitors goal in a 2-1 defeat.
The under-14 Crusaders were also beaten 2-1 by Manuden with Mitchell Tredgett scoring the consolation goal.
Division Four leaders, the under-14 Knights had to settle for a point against Royston Celtic. After Billy Clarke had given the Knights the lead, the visitors fought back to make the final score 1-1.
The under-15 Knights had a disastrous day in their League Cup match at Bishop Stortford, losing 8-1, Duane Brailsford scoring the consolation.
The under-15 Lancers continued to set the pace at the top of Division Two with a 5-2 win at Trident Youth. Lee Chapman, Daniel Chapman, Daniel Newton, Jordan Fidock, Sam Frazer-Bossom and Joel Strickland scoring the goals.
The under-15 Crusaders maintained their recent good form as they also won 5-2 at Bennington thanks to strikes from Max Fletcher, Robert Badrick, Arron Jones, John Budd together with an own goal.
The under-16 Crusaders came close to causing a major upset in their League Cup match with Division One leaders Hitchin.
Although the visitors took the lead, Greg Rycroft was on hand to level things up midway through the first half. Hitchin again took the lead just before half-time but were unable to increase their lead against a battling Crusaders side until they snatched a third with virtually the last kick of the game to go through 3-1 winners.
The under-17 Crusaders had a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to Broadhall thanks to goals from James Mayes, Elliott Snook and Jack Hargreaves.
The under-18 Crusaders will be disappointed not to have come away with something from their match against Hitchin Town after a Johnny Poleszuk goal had given them an interval lead. After the break the Crusaders paid dearly for missing three easy chances as they allowed the home side to come back strongly to take the points with a 3-1 win.
