TOWN finished the first half of the season in style, taking the three points that saw them complete 2006 in third spot in the league.

Again fielding a changed and potentially under strength side, Royston made the journey to Tring with the bare number of personnel through unavailability of players.

However, the unfamiliar line up did not appear to unsettle the visitors in any form, and saw them produce a gritty, hardworking performance to dig out a deserved win.

Starting by far the stronger, it seemed the hosts were happy allowing Town to come forward at every opportunity, with both strikers looking dangerous.

It was however a strike from the midfield that saw Town take the lead with Richard Lowden scoring in style.

This then saw Tring have their best period of the game, withRoyston keeper Sam Booth needing to be on his toes.

The second half started much as the first had with Royston well on top, so the equaliser came against the run of play, a speculative ball forward just beating Booth when it really could have gone anywhere.

This sparked Town into action, this added pressure firstly was rewarded with Stokes scoring from close range to regain the lead, and then firing home a penalty himself to put the result beyond doubt.

Royston: S Booth, A Stodhart, T Parry, B Bowles, S Bowles, D Miles, C Parry, R Lowden, M Saunders, A Stokes, C Geldart .
