Royston Town sunk St Neots Town 5-0 at Garden Walk on Saturday with a convincing victory.
The Crows overpowered their visitors in the Evo-Stik Southern League Central to take their third home win in a row – bouncing back from the weekends defeat to Stourbridge.
The game kicked-off under the Garden Walk floodlights to a frantic intensity, with both teams’ desire resulting in a scrappy midfield battle.
Neots were unlucky to go behind after 19 minutes, as Josh Castiglione flicked Vance Bola into space in the box. Bola and Adam Murray nearly tangled, before the number 10 blasted a shot across goal, deflected in for an own-goal by Tom Wood.
The hosts began to dominate after the goal, and added a second after 35 minutes. Sam Corcoran broke out and swept and expert pass to Bola, who skipped a challenge, burst clear of the visitors defence and finished into the bottom-right for 2-0.
The Crows were firmly on top at the break, and continued their dominance after the restart, with Neots visibly losing hope.
The game was out of sight after 52 minutes, when the excellent Castiglione was brought down by Harry O’Malley in the box. Rohdell Gordon swept home the penalty for 3-0.
Gordon won the second penalty of the game, brought down by O’Malley after bursting through brilliantly from the halfway line.
As the Neots man was sent off for a second yellow, the Crows winger made it two out of two.
Royston boss Steve Castle was ordering his strikers to hunt for more goals, and the final minute saw substitute Dave Mooney grab his first-goal for the Crows with a beautifully curled goal into the top-right.
