ROYSTON Town's match against Winslow United was called off in "farcical circumstances" on Saturday, according to Crows boss Paul Attfield.
The players and staff had travelled for an hour to Buckinghamshire for the game only to be told when they got pitch side that the pitch was frozen and they had made the journey for nothing.
Attfield said: "After a heavy frost the night before on our arrival at 1.30pm the pitch was like concrete in places and was clearly unplayable.
"The referee on his arrival unsurprisingly called the game off when the hosts should really have arranged a mandatory pitch inspection much earlier to prevent us from travelling."
Royston's next match is against Cheshunt in the first round of the South Midlands Floodlit Cup on Tuesday evening at Garden Walk and on Saturday they now play a big fixture away to second-placed Kings Langley.
They were due to play Harpenden Town but their scheduled opponents now have a county cup fixture instead.
