TOWN let a 2-1 slip as they conceded three sloppy second half goals.
The early pressure from the visitors paid off after only eight minutes when they took the lead with the ball being fired in past Town's unsighted keeper Amy Walker.
Rovers continued to play the better football and created several more chances which were squandered.
Eventually Royston forced their way back into the game with skipper Leanne Buckannan orchestrating a number of neat passing moves which saw Emma Chaffey hit the bar.
With half-time approaching a defence splitting pass from the back by Amy Barlow put in Jodie Scott who rounded the keeper to level the scores.
Within two minutes of the second half Town took the lead when Chaffey showed great composure inside the box and crashed the ball home.
Scott could have put the game out of Rovers reach but for an excellent save by the visitors keeper.
From that point on things went from bad to worse for the home side. A free kick on the edge of the box was poorly defended and resulted in the visitors equalising.
The normally reliable Walker then made a complete hash of a back pass to gift the visitors the lead.
A long ball over the top caught out Town's defence for Haverhill to make it 4-2.
With 20 minutes left the game was held-up for nearly half an hour whilst centre back Barlow received paramedic treatment on the pitch and was eventually taken to hospital with respiratory problems.
On the restart Royston battled well and had a couple of chances to get back into the game before the final whistle.
Town boss Kevin Foulger commented "I thought we played some of our best football today and we should have got something out of the game".
- Amy Barlow was released from hospital following the game.
