THE Edward Jolly Boys were left empty-handed after a hard-fought match with Hardwick should have earned them at least a point.

A 10 minute spell midway through the second half was enough to seal victory for the home side, despite the Jolly Boys getting off to a better start.

The visitors looked quicker and caused Hardwick problems with their intelligent passing football as Knight, Saward, Gibson and Matthews snuffed out every Hardwick attack.

Looking for their second away win of the season, Oli Fitzgerald went close for the Guilden Morden-based club, after breaking the hosts' offside trap and forcing the Hardwick keeper into making a great save.

At the other end Jason Pallet made a number of quality saves himself. But he was unfortunately beaten in the second half when a Hardwick corner caused a mix up to which the hosts responded quickest.

Hardwick then increased the lead when a controversial free kick was awarded and as a result was expertly hit home.

Never giving up, and with 10 minutes to go, Gareth Edey restored some hope for the Jolly Boys heading home Gary Radford's pinpoint cross after some fine play by Wayne King.

The goal set up a frantic final two minutes however it was the home side that hung on to claim all three points.
