West Wratting 3 Foxton 2

FOXTON were left reeling after a late error gifted all three points to West Wratting on Saturday.

The visitors had done well to keep on level terms with their hosts who are a decent outfit, but with just minutes left William Cook in the Foxton goal rushed to kick a clearance up to his team's front men but sliced the ball which landed at the feet of a Wratting attacker who had an open goal to score in.

It was a blow for Foxton who had actually got off to a terrific start by opening the scoring in the first minute when Stuart Ogilvie was gifted the ball before jinking past a couple of Wratting defenders before applying a confident finish.

Wratting did hit the bar just before the break but Foxton went into half time feeling good about their lead. However, Andy Cambridge's side conceded two goals early in the second half before Simon Swinton pulled them level.

Foxton kept huffing and puffing and when Cook caught the ball with just a few moments left he hoped a quick kick would put his team on the attack but it wasn't to be as his sliced punt was quickly dispatched by a Wratting striker.

Manager Andy Cambridge said: "it was a tough game but they were better than us. I was expecting them to be a good team because we faced them last year and they were a tough opposition.

"We struggled to produce really. At a push we could have had a point but we can't complain about losing. The manner of the last goal was a bad mistake, it was a bit comical, but we've got Needingworth to come this Saturday so hopefully we'll be able to turn it around and get three points there."

Foxton: Cook, Davenport, Tokely, Ranner, Hencher, Lawrence, Ogilvie, Swinton, Milne, I Cambridge, Chapman. Subs: Ryan, Tovey, Smith.
