BASSINGBOURN'S final game before the Christmas break, saw them playing at home against Stotfold Juniors.
After losing to them earlier in the season, Bassingbourn expected a tough game; Stotfold did not disappoint and kept Bassingbourn busy all game.
Good defensive play from James Fox, Karyna Manuel and Matthew Lovejoy kept the visitor out, but when they did get sight of goal Giovanni Tamburello produced a string of excellent reflex saves.
On a heavy pitch Bassingbourn's attacks were minimal and they never really tested the Stotfold keeper as much as they should have.
Desperate defending at the end of the game and more good goal keeping from Tamburello meant that Bassingbourn were able to keep a clean sheet and share the points.

A DISAPPOINTING game saw Celtic slip to defeat on Saturday (December 9).
It was a slow start and Celtic could not seem to rouse themselves to make an impact on the game despite a close shot at goal from Edward Atkins. Jordan Cooney again played a good defensive first half.
The second half saw all four goals from Stotfold, and after some near misses Callum Pinner finally managed to find the back of the net.
However Celtic could not find any more flashes of inspiration and had to admit defeat.

LIKE their A team, Celtic B also lost to the visitors, although the margin was smaller and this was a vast improvement from the game at the start of the season.
The first half saw some good saves from keeper Jack Mills, and Jack Ison proved a worthy opponent for the opposition as he defended his half.
Despite constant battling throughout the game by Celtic, they were unable to score in the first half although Jimi Smith had a valiant attempt to put one past the keeper.
The second half was again when Stotfold scored their goals, but the home team were unable to come back with any significant shots.

BASSINGBOURN'S B team continued their good form by beating Stotfold's B team 5-0.
The scoring started when Thomas Bromilow ran onto a through ball to slot home past the Stotfold keeper.
It was Bromilow again, who stroked in the second with a similar, and tireless effort from Sean Smith was rewarded when he drove in the third with a fierce shot.
In form Sean Cook found the net to score the fourth, but it was Smith who was to have the final word, rounding of a great performance with the fifth goal
