EWAN Edwards was on target twice as the Hares- under-10s defeated neighbours Buntingford Cougars 3-1. Buntingford took an early lead with a well constructed goal with their first shot of the match. As the half wore on, Hares created a number of chances without finding an end product. At half-time a number of tactical substitutions were made that saw Hares dominate the second half. Some forceful running by Craig Brett opened up the Buntingford defence and Edwards smartly converted. As the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Ollie Butler rifled an effort into the top corner of the net to give Hares a deserved lead. With the final move of the match Edwards scored his second goal to give Hares victory. A great game saw the under-nines A team dominate for long periods of their game against Hatfield Youth. Some excellent passing and tackling from Jamie Stimson and Danny Elford ensured Hares were strong and were rewarded when a left foot drive from Alex Underwood sealed a good team performance. The B team also had a close game, with Emma Perrin a constant threat up front. Daniel Re did some sterling defending and Lucas Pratt covered every inch of the pitch, but a good move from Hatfield was well finished and despite Hares best efforts could not get an equaliser. Failure to finish the numerous chances created by the under-14s cost them dear in a tough and physical game against top three side Letchworth. But Letchworth who were under the cosh for long periods were extremely clinical in front of goals and the score certainly did not bear a resemblance of the game as they ran out 5-0 winners. The progress shown by the girls under-12 team recently has been immense over the past few weeks and they were rewarded with a great team effort win against Comberton Crusaders. Hares dominated throughout and played some great football. Alex Hunt and Sophie Barker stood firm at the back, with Gaby Hodgson and Katie Jennings controlling the midfield. Goals from Jennings (2) Hogdson and Abbie Bird sealed the 4-1 win. The under-13 girls were also in fine form as they returned from St Neots with a 7-0 win under their belts. A first half hat-trick for Yasmine Pratt and a power drive from Katy Grehan saw Hares four up at halftime. Then it was Grehan's turn to turn striker scoring a second half treble, and it could have been a lot more, but for some good saves by the Saints' keeper.
