ROYSTON Town remain within touching distance of the summit of South Midlands Division One after this narrow victory over Cranfield at Garden?walk on Saturday.

This victory leaves the Crows third in the table and growing in stature and confidence under manager Paul Attfield.

The Crows put in a first half performance that was superb in its effort and invention and they were always attempting to try and break down what at times was a difficult visiting defence.

But the Crows stuck rigidly to their task with the lively Craig Hammond giving the Cranfield defence numerous problems.

The goal eventually came a minute before half time when Ryan Lockett met a Luke Robins cross at the back post to fire the ball into the net, much to the joy of the home fans.

The Crows continued to dominate proceedings in the second period by just could not find a way past the Cranfield keeper and even hit the post on two occasions.

n In midweek the Crows travelled to Crawley Green and picked up three more valuable points winning 2-1.

Royston got off to a flyer scoring after just 37 seconds when Craig Hammond reacted quickest to a defensive lapse to score from 18 yards.

Green equalised just before the break, but the Crows' winner came in the 76th minute through Arron?Welch.
