Elsworth Sports 2 Steeple Morden 2 PROMOTION chasers Elsworth and Morden were forced to share the spoils on Saturday. The home side enjoyed much of the play as they dominated the first 15 minutes of this match, but some good work paid dividends for Steeple Morden. Charlie Prothero showed some individual skill to create enough space to get a 25 yard shot off. The Elsworth goalkeeper did excellently to tip over the left hand angle of post and bar. From the corner Martin Holt crossed a low ball into the box. In the ensuing melee the keeper flapped at the ball for Ben Holt to seize his chance and power the ball into the back of the net. Again Elsworth pushed forward creating several chances, and their dominance paid off when the ball bounced around in the box and Elsworth's right winger was in the right place at the right time and smashed the ball past Tim Tidey. Morden showed more urgency in the early stages of the second half and forced their way back into the lead. Defender Paul Hutley played a great ball out wide for Martin Holt to collect on the right flank. He skipped away from his marker and supplied an exquisite cross. Curling between the two retreating central defenders and their goalkeeper the ball found itself on the left foot of Johnny Harper who was not going to miss from eight yards. With 10 minutes of the game to go Elsworth were awarded a free kick just outside the Steeple Morden area. It was taken well with the ball rising over the wall and beating the keeper at the near post earning the home side a point.
