Broxbourne Borough 4 Royston Town 0 THE Crows' improved run of results came to a shuddering halt on Tuesday evening as former boss Peter Theo's side ran out comfortable winners. A surprising postponement of Saturday's home game against Harpenden Town had robbed Royston's chance of a third straight home win against sides in the bottom six. But Theo's team proved too strong on Tuesday to leave Mark Saggers' side in the bottom six. In an open first half, the Crows had several good chances to score, the first of which came as early as the fourth minute, when Jez McMurrough saw his chip over the keeper just clear the bar. The Crows were made to pay for that miss within a minute. A cross into the box struck a defender's hand, and the penalty was converted. A good move between Richard Dove and McMurrough saw the latter hit the bar. And the lanky striker managed to hit exactly the same spot on the woodwork midway through the half when he headed against the bar after meeting a Tom Galvin cross from the left. On a night he will probably want to quickly forget, McMurrough's fourth chance of the game, just before the break, saw him break clear of the home defence after a poor back pass, only to be inexplicably denied by the linesman's flag. After such an encouraging first half performance, the killer goal came 10 minutes into the second half, when the visitors lost possession on the right, and a home player slid in at the back post to connect with a cross and make it 2-0. It was soon 3-0 when Matt Thurogood failed to clear the ball, leaving a forward to fire past Barry White in the Royston goal. And the scoring was wrapped up when McMurrough was dispossessed, leaving Broxbourne able to break free again. Crows: B White, P Chappell (C Geldart), M Thurogood, R Cannon, M Williams, J Nash, P Lamont, T Galvin, R Dove (G Dove), J McMurrough, S Snowden (C Silenti) - The Crows travel to Hanwell Town on Saturday before facing a vital clash at St Margaretsbury on Tuesday evening.
