Fowlmere 2 Girton 2

FOWLMERE bounced back from last weekend's 7-1 defeat to JM Sports with a hard-fought draw against Girton.

After they fell behind midway through the first half, the on- form Steve Cook responded for Fowlmere with another tidy finish to his name.

Then in the second half another sloppy mix up allowed Girton to sneak in and score a second, after 55 minutes.

Showing their character, Fowlmere sought another equaliser with Cook causing problems with his clever movement.

And it was Cook who made the difference with five minutes remaining when his powerful strike was spilled into the path of Rory Clark, who could not miss from five yards out.

Fowlmere head coach Steve Walker said: "We're really pleased with the performance especially after last week's defeat.

"I was delighted with the players' reaction and they worked hard to come from behind twice.

"Having said that, I feel we probably deserved three points and we were unlucky not to get more from the game.

"Cookie again showed what a fine player he is with another good goal.
