COLTS completed their season with a rousing seven-goal thriller against high-flying local rivals, Ashwell Academicals.

The home side began the brighter of the two sides, defying their lowly league position and outplaying Ashwell early on, Victor Faletta and Jordan Hall almost netting after terrific work out on the right by Jack Bailey.

Soon after, Colts had the lead, Hall cutting-in from the right to rifle home from a tight angle for his ninth of the season.

Minutes later, he had nearly doubled his tally, when his low-driven centre flew just inches wide of Accies upright, and Jake Benstead also went close from a Lewis Harley corner.

However, this only seemed to stir Accies into action, promptly equalising against the run of play with a well-taken near-post header from a free-kick on the left.

As half-time approached, Accies took the lead with a long-range effort which looped agonisingly beyond the despairing dive of keeper, John Middlemass.

Jake Benstead levelled the scored once more soon after the restart, blasting home from short distance.

Accies then regained the lead from a quick break down the middle before Benstead made it 3-3, notching his seventh of the season with an unstoppable long-range effort.

Both teams were now locked in close battle, Colts central defensive partnership of Hall and Ashley Chapman, in particular, showing tremendous desire and commitment to keep Accies at bay.

As the minutes ticked away and a draw seemed the likely outcome, Ashwell suddenly broke clear, rounding keeper Neil Smith to slot home a last gasp winner - the eighth time in 20 matches Colts have gone down by the odd goal this season.

Colts: J Middlemass, M Cooney, A Chapman, J Hall, M Kilroy, L Harley, J Benstead, L Hunter, S Hunter, J Bailey, V Faletta. Subs: M McLean, C Saggers, L Sekobawane, N Smith, H Stafford.

COLTS wrapped up a successful league season with an eight-goal hammering of Swifts.

Jordan Campbell picked up a hat-trick and Matthew Stout and Jake long a brace a piece.

The pick of the goals came from a flowing move involving five Colts players which ended with Richard Jonas feeding the ball to Campbell who slotted the ball home with ease.

Jonas also scored Colts last goal and his third of the season when he put pressure on the Swifts left back after receiving the ball from a goal kick and scoring from a tight angle.

COLTS B could not quite match the performance of the A team, but again put on a very good performance, which has shown how far the boys have improved this year.

Daniel Goodfellow scored a hat-trick, the best of which came after a fine solo run as he struck the ball superbly from the edge of the area to see it nestle in the top left corner of the net.

Bradley Sell and Jack Pearce also scored a goal each, and George Wheeler-Bailey wrapped up proceedings after Liam Long surgerd forward.

He skipped past two Swifts defenders, and laid it off to Wheeler-Bailey who controlled and hit the ball on the turn to see it fly past the helpless Swifts keeper
