CHISHILL and Pymoor scrapped for 120 minutes in the mud on Saturday before a winner could be decided in this John Ablett cup classic.

Heavy rain had turned the pitch into a mud-bath, but the game went ahead and the hosts found themselves under pressure in the opening stages, as the visitors from Ely took the lead with a neat chip.

Chishill had failed to really test the keeper although Luke Tyler had gone close with a couple of well-struck free kicks.

They were the stronger side going into half-time and came out even more positive in the second half.

Although the defence had to be alert against a strong Pymoor forward line, Chishill kept the pressure on as they searched for an equaliser.

As the game went on though it looked like it might not come until Elliot Drury rose brilliantly in the box to head home Tyler's free kick at the far post.

With 10 minutes remaining, the momentum was with the home side and they could have won the contest, but Gareth Edey's close range header crashed back off the crossbar.

The cut-up pitch, and the dropping fog made playing conditions more and more difficult as the game went into extra time and both goalkeepers had kept the scores level with some fine reflex stops.

Edey nudged Chishill into the lead in the first period, weaving his way past three players on the right wing before firing into the bottom corner for a brilliant solo effort.

Pymoor however were not beaten, and they fought back in the second period, equalising with an excellent header.

At the final whistle both teams shook hands, appreciating the tough battle they had given each other.

Tyler, Elliot Drury, Edey and Burrows converted their penalties, while Ian Gallagher saved with his feet, to send Chishill through to the next round.

Chishill: Gallagher, R Drury, Gardiner, Manning, Bramwell, Dunsden, E Drury, Tyler, Fitzgerald, Edey, J Drury. Subs: Radford, Burrows, Gibson.

- Chishill are without a game on Saturday.
