GOALS from Paul Lawrence and Russell Kemp saw Ashwell lift the Herts Sunday Senior Cup at the County Ground, Letchworth, last week.
Against a side who have reached four of the last five finals, Ashwell played some marvellous football to grab the cup against a Cow team who finished with nine men.
The game got off to a nervous start, but was played at a frantic pace with opportunities coming at both ends, but it was Ashwell that settled first and started to control, scoring after 16 minutes through Lawrence who calmly slotted past the on-rushing keeper.
Although Dun Cow continued to battle throughout the match Ashwell looked the better side absorbing some good attack work from the Stevenage side, and always looked threatening when advancing.
A fine save from Adam Lawrence after Ashwell skipper Kemp had headed towards his own net kept the village side ahead as the sides went into the dressing room 1-0 up.
Dun Cow were reduced to 10 men half way through the second half, Ryan Jenner picking up his second yellow card and easing any pressure on Ashwell.
With full time looming they won a penalty after Andy E'Beyer deliberately dived and diverted a Barry Dellar shot with his hand.
The Stevenage side were reduced to nine men, and Kemp converted from the spot to seal a memorable victory for Ashwell.
Ashwell are also clear favourites to win the Senior Division of the Halls of Cambridge Sunday Football League, needing just one point from their three remaining fixtures.
Club spokesman David Eggleton said "Winning this cup is the result of a lot of hard work throughout the season, and the team togetherness that oozes through the players ranks.
