CHLOE Fisher led the way for JM Judo Club as they travelled to the Barnet Dojo for the Summer Basho.

The confident Fisher won all of her bouts with resounding Ippon throws to take a richly deserved gold medal.

Six club members took part in the event, which is becoming one of the area's most prized competitions.

All of the six participants came away with a medal, and first out was the ever improving Charles Slade, who showed his mettle with two resounding wins in his four-man pool to take a deserved bronze medal.

Eleanor Evans also won bronze, and was very unlucky not to make silver by just 1 point difference in her pool.

Two Ippon scores in her wins underlined her potential.

Dawn Smith continued her excellent form, by winning a bronze in her division, but in the same group it was Leonie Hall a very recent addition to the club who took silver, executing a very neat Ippon throw in the process.

Neil Smith is another who is beginning to show good style, in winning another silver medal for the club.

It was not all over when the juniors finished, club coach Oli Marler took a rare opportunity to compete in the Open Dan Grade competition, and using Seoi nage techniques only recently demonstrated to the membership, Marler fought his way to a Gold medal winning place.

The JM Club have now promoted some of their recent intake up the ladder within the session programme, and now have vacancies on the next beginner's course starting in a few weeks time.

Anyone who wishes to join, and take part in the induction course is asked to telephone John Massmann on 01763-241020 for further details.

Any previous member of the JM Club is asked to register their interest in the club's 21st anniversary celebrations scheduled for the beginning of December, and further details can be obtained from John Massmann.
