An England World Cup winner has praised Royston Rugby Club’s success in gaining promotion.
Will Greenwood, who was a member of England’s victorious 2003 World Cup-winning squad in Australia took to social media to hail Royston.
Royston secured promotion after a dominant display against Hendon saw them win 62-0 in Herts Middlesex One, scoring a total of 10 tries and conceding none.
The thoroughly deserved promotion means the club will be playing at its highest level in more than 20 years.
The highly-respected Greenwood, who was awarded an MBE by the Queen, and who is also a tireless champion and patron for Child Bereavement UK took time out from his busy schedule to praise of the side by sending a post to the club and the Royston Crow newspaper on his personal Twitter account to more than 200,000 followers which said: “Go on the Crows! Amazing news!”
