GEORGE Duffin's second-half penalty gave Cougars under-12 Blues a well-deserved victory at Bishop's Stortford Youth. An all-round excellent team performance ensured a well-deserved three points away from home to put Cougars second in the league. They chased and harried Stortford from the off, denying them the space to play in. Harry Tuttle was bought down early in the second period to earn Cougars a penalty, and Duffin fired under the Stortford keeper to give the Blues victory. Three second-half goals gave the under-eight A side victory against Hatfield Youth. Josh Coldecot-Stevens set up Charlie Rome for the first, before putting his name on the scoresheet, with Reece Fitzgerald completing the win. The B team started with more pace, and Charlie Owen soon opened the scoring. A dubious penalty was then given against Cougars making it all square. Thomas Burns found the net just before half-time, and Owen was on target again in the second half with a beautiful chip over the keeper's head, before further goals came from Samuel Rice and Reece Voller to seal a 5-2 win. Hannah Nolan went close early in the under-10 girls game against Tottenham Hotspur B, but Spurs took control after that, and despite strong defending from Kerryn Westrip, Emma Phillipson and Emma Trehearn they ran out 5-0 winners. Oliver Lee-Stevens' early goal proved only a consolation for the under-12 Whites as they went down 5-1 against Hormead Hares. On a heavy pitch, the under-13s played some excellent passing football against Apollo, but were unable to convert their chances. The sides were even at half time, and the game could have gone either way. In the end Cougars were beaten 3-0 by the lightning pace and determination of the Apollo front runners.
