AFTER some inexcusable cry offs prior to kick off Royston travelled to Letchworth with just 13 men.

After getting over the set back and setting themselves up as best they could Royston stunned Letchworth by opening strongly, with Fly Half Rob Morriss using his cultured left boot to gain good ground and Sam Morris dominating the battle for the sky in the line out.

From one such catch and drive at a line out, a Letchworth player infringed five yards out which gave Royston only one option - bring in crash ball specialist Steve Patmore who duly obliged and dived over the try line with five defenders hanging on his back.

The second score came from some strong counter rucking, and Chris Ball put in his customary strong tackle and Simon Gladwell and Simon Rees quickly counter rucked the ball which allowed Pete Collis to stroll over the line unopposed.

The second half started as the first finished with Royston pressurising in the scrums. Having weathered a small storm, Royston started living off scraps and one Rob Morriss break led to him executing a great scissor move with Pete Collis who dived over for his second before

Jamie Green picked up a loose ball in his own 22, beat three men then ran the length of the field to set up Jason Turkington for the easiest of scores.
