MERIDIAN School’s Year 10 basketball team beat HBS 49-22 to reach the Stevenage and North Herts School League finals.

Meridian put out a strong squad determined not to break their unbeaten run.

In every quarter Meridian were leading the scoring, with Gus Rees top scoring by hitting 12 baskets alone.

It was an all round good performance and a result good enough to send Meridian to the finals.

The School’s Year 10 football team travelled to Knights Templar School to play a fixture that until now they had never won.

From start to finish the boys put on a masterclass in how to play and get the best out of tough conditions.

Their defending was top quality and laid the foundations for swift counter-attacks. By half-time Meridian were a well-deserved 2-0 up.

The second half continued in the same vein as the boys piled on the pressure and Knights Templar had no answer and were forced into conceding three more goals.

Justin Leavers hit a hat-trick, with the other goals coming from George Bailey and Bradley Calvert.
