Mangrove 0 Royston Town A 5
NATHAN Davenport's hat-trick inspired Royston to another comprehensive victory with a valuable three points away from home.
And it was an impressive showing from the young striker, whose partnership alongside Lee Bates caused the hosts problems from the off, with Davenport heading home Rob Gwynne's well-taken corner.
Royston's defence was once again in complete control, with Richard Lowden and Michael Baker keeping the Mangrove attack at bay.
Davenport then increased the lead with his and The Crows' second when he coolly rounded the Mangrove keeper and rolled the ball home, before Aaron Williams headed goal number three from James Bass' deep cross.
Bates then got in on the action, and after playing a smart one-two with Brad Jackson, the striker smashed the ball past a stranded Mangrove keeper.
In the second half, the home side put all their players behind the ball for what was a largely successful damage limitation exercise.
However, Royston did break the blockade when Brent Waddington's cross was turned in by Davenport for a well-taken hat-trick.
