ROYSTON Ladies seconds demonstrated how much they had improved with a convincing win against Tring Ladies second on Saturday.

The newly promoted hosts, had only been able to salvage a draw at Tring on the opening day of the season, but on a miserable, rainy afternoon they managed to take all the points and score five goals in an attacking thriller.

It was, however, not until the 11th minute that Lucy Davidson opened the scoring, slotting home a neat pass from Sarah Farmer.

Ten minutes later the lead was doubled when Gemma Luckmann passed to Katie Ellard to jab in her first goal for the club.

No further goals followed in the half but strong performances from defenders Jo Hilleard and Karen Fidell and midfielders Louise Arnold and Karen McKay all combined in the attacking play to ensure the pressure remained on the visitors.

Coincidentaly, as in the first half, 11 minutes after the restart Farmer was again provider for Davidson who dribbled her way through the Tring defence from the top of the D to score her second of the match.

After a hatful of missed chances, Ali Carroll then got in on the act and scored her first of the season, with a powerful shot from the top of the D.

Arguably the best goal of the match then came from player of the match, Sarah Warren who ran onto a hit out of defence by Farmer and held her nerve to drill the ball home.

Royston currently lie seventh in their 10 team division, with Tring lying just below them so these were valuable points as they look to consolidate their division status.
