Hanwell Town 1-5 Royston Town

THE CROWS were rampant away at Hanwell Town on Saturday as they secured a comfortable victory to maintain their superb start to the season.

Paul Attfield’s side were 2-1 up at half time after strikes from Tom Malins and Kaan Fehmi before Josh Bronti notched a brace after the break with Martin Standen grabbing the other.

In truth, the scoreline still flatters the hosts such was the dominance and often wastefulness of Royston, but it was another welcome three points nonetheless.

Royston started brightly and went ahead in the fifth minute when Kaan Fehmi’s shot across the face of the goal was turned in by Malins at the far post.

Despite Hanwell’s poor start, going behind seemed to wake them up and they equalised 10 minutes later through Jaroslaw Drzewiecki, via the outstretched leg of John McGrandles.

From then onwards, though, it was all Royston as they proceeded to create chance after chance. And they restored the lead when Arin Fehmi released brother Kaan with a quick throw-in and the striker raced through to curl a neat effort past the Hanwell goalkeeper. The same player hit a post before half time as Royston were guilty of failing to put the game beyond Hanwell.

Royston continued where they left off in the first period after the restart but it took them until the 65th minute to score their third. Ricky Young showed good pace to beat his marker before squaring to Martin Standen who slid the ball home at the far post.

Bronti then replaced Kann Fehmi in the later stages and instantly found the goal trail in his first league appearance since rejoining the club from Stotfold. With seven minutes remaining Lewis Endacott was unlucky not to score when his angled shot was deflected into the side netting by the keeper’s boot but from the resulting corner Bronti beat the ‘keeper to the ball and headed in via the post.

It was left to Bronti to complete the scoring with just a couple of minutes remaining – again Young provided the assist with a good run and cross giving Bronti a simple close-range finish.
