Royston Town will hope the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central playoffs can provide some silverware after losing 1-0 to Conference South side Bishop’s Stortford in the Herts Charity Cup Final on Tuesday night.

The Crows had sufficient chances to rattle their higher league opponents, in a game played at Hertfordshire FA headquarters in Letchworth, but a lack of bottle in the box cost them, especially in the second half.

As it was, Sheldon Sellears 36th minute volley at the far post ensured the cup was to remain with Stortford for the third successive year.

Royston’s best chance fell to midfielder Scott Bridges 10 minutes into the second half, but he tamely fired straight at keeper Jake Larkins.
