Royston Town followed up last Saturday’s disastrous 5-0 defeat at Southern League Central table-toppers Kettering Town with an equally disappointing 1-0 loss in the Red Insure Cup third round to Corby Town on Tuesday.

The cup tie at Garden Walk could have swung the other way had Jack Bradshaw’s 90th-minute effort not grazed both posts, before flying to safety.

The first team could not recreate the cup heroics of Town’s U18 side in the FA Youth Cup (see back page) and their close-fought exit against Corby was their fourth straight defeat and sixth in just seven games.

Steve Castle’s men host second-bottom North Greenford United on Saturday looking to halt their run of poor results in their final league match before Christmas.

The Crows’ last league win, a 5-1 triumph, came at their weekend opponents back in November.
