HARINGEY BOROUGH 3 ROYSTON TOWN 1 JASON Nash's first-half goal proved to be scant consolation as the Crows crashed to another defeat to move perilously close to the relegation zone again. Royston are only four points clear of the bottom two following their fourth straight defeat. They looked to have put their relegation worries behind them after defeating basement side Harpenden and drawing with leaders Oxford City in early March, but have suffered a steady slide since then. With a new-look side, unrecognisable from the one the Crows hammered 3-0 in January, Haringey have collected four successive victories, leaving Royston sweating as they enter the final month of the season. On Saturday, Mark Saggers' team travel to a Harpenden side who appear doomed to the drop, and still have to face fellow strugglers Ruislip Manor on Easter Saturday in what looks to be a key game if they are to remain in the Spartan South Midlands League. On a pitch that resembled a beach after heavy overnight rain had put the game in doubt, the Crows struggled during the early stages. The hosts took an 18th-minute lead when a ball over the top allowed a forward to run on and slide it past Barry White in the Royston goal. Royston were back on level terms six minute later when Nash, who had an impressive game, fired home from just outside the box for a well-taken goal. Borough regained the lead shortly before the break when Royston lost the ball in the centre circle, and a hopeful long punt caught in the wind and sailed over White. The visitors must have known it was not going to be their day, especially as they lost influential defender Stuart Snowden with a hamstring injury at half-time. The second half saw the Crows dominate for long spells, with Martin Westcott and substitute Jez McMurrough both having good efforts. Westcott, returning to the club after spending most of the season with Ridgeons League side Ely City, held the ball up well and twice saw shots hit the woodwork. But it was the home side who wrapped up what could be a crucial victory in the dying minutes when they broke out of defence, and White was lobbed from the edge of the box. Crows: B White, P Chappell. R Cannon, C Geldart, L Rogers, S Snowden (P Lamont), J Nash, M Saunders (T Galvin), M Westcott, D Jeffries (J McMurrough), C Silenti. Unused sub: M Williams. n Royston host high-flying Hillingdon Borough at Garden Walk, on Tuesday evening, kick off 7.45pm The west London side are undefeated in 2006, having taken 36 points from 14 games - a run which included a 2-0 win against the Crows. They drew the away leg of the FA Vase at Bury Town, on Sunday, with the second leg scheduled for this Sunday.
