ROYSTON Town may feature on ITV after it was announced that highlights of their FA Cup extra preliminary round clash will be screened on two of the channel's websites, writes TOM BROWN.

The Crows take on Wembley of the Combined Counties League on Saturday, August 16, and for the first time in the competition's history, matches involving non-league clubs will be filmed and made available for fans to view.

Camera crews from ITV and the FA will capture footage from a number of games as more than 400 clubs begin their bid for glory.

Highlights packages will be available to watch on ITVlocal.com, itv.com and TheFA.com.

Royston manager Paul Attfield said: "It's great for both the club and its supporters. It's a nice touch that offers fans a different perspective on the FA Cup.

"Hopefully we'll give a worthy performance fit for the cameras."

Marc Webber of ITV.com said: "We're bringing the big match atmosphere to the smaller clubs. We're proud to be the first broadcaster to cover the FA Cup from the very first kick."

In the meantime, Attfield's side remain fully focused for the start of what promises to be an exciting league campaign, with an opening day trip to Harpenden Town just over a week away.

"It's come about very quickly," said Attfield.

"Preparations have been going fairly well and from what I've seen of the players they're looking in good shape. It's a big year for us so it's important that we start well."

The Crows face Takeley tonight (Thursday) before a Saturday double sees them take on Haringey Borough in another friendly and Leverstock Green in the Herts Charity Cup.

They entertain Cambridge City on Tuesday, before visiting Fowlmere on Thursday.

Crows striker Craig Hammond said: "I think we're all looking to get the season started now.

"The Cambridge City match is an exciting one, especially as it will be our first game at Garden Walk following the work that has gone on - hopefully we can get a good crowd down there."

On Tuesday, Royston came from 2-0 down to see off Met Police Bushey of the Herts County League thanks to a Will Turl brace.

Luke Robins halved the deficit with a neat finish just before half time, with Turl making the difference after the break with a deflected strike and header.
