BALDOCK TOWN YOUTH FC ROUND-UP

IT WAS county cup day for the under-11s, 13s and 15s, and some of the Town sides recorded big victories in their first round matches.

The under-11 Templars moved into the second round with a comfortable win at Hadley Rangers. Jordan Massey led the way by scoring a hat-trick, while William Budd was on target twice. With further goals coming from Connor Gray and Mark Rogers, the Templars finally ran out 7-2 winners.

The under-13 Templars swept visiting Wodson Park aside in their county cup clash. Both Henry Dann and Josh Camborne-Paynter notched hat tricks, while Ben Jones, Oliver Pride, Alex Penny and Joe Parker also got their names on the score sheet to put the Templars through to the next round with a 10-0 victory.

Not so fortunate were the under-13 Knights, who despite leading at half time through a Charan Basra goal, finally ended up on the wrong end of a 4-1 score line at Lemsford.

The under-13 Lancers also made an early exit from the competition as they went down 5-1 at Abbots Youth, with Lewis Worcester scoring the consolation goal.

The under-15 Knights were another team who had no trouble moving into the next round of the county cup as they easily dispatched Lemsford by 9-1.

Looking to better last season's long run in the competition, the Knights overcame having to field a weakened side to brush their hosts aside.

Chris Hogg was another player to record a hat trick on the day while fellow striker Jake Lindsey-Smith was on target twice. Further strikes from Aaron Slack Keiron Doyle and Alex Coppin, together with an own goal completed a resounding victory.

In the Crow League the under-10 Templars and Crusaders both started their seasons with wins against Hatfield Youth. Two goals from Joe Kingham helped earn the Templars a 2-0 win in their Division A game against the visitors Yellows, while in Division B Dean Kitchener and Kain Linnell scored the Crusaders goals as they also recorded a 2-0 win this time against Hatfield Greens.

The under-10 Knights and Lancers had mixed fortunes at Letchworth with the Knights going down 5-2 to the Eagles Whites, but the Lancers recorded their second win of the season by beating Letchworth Blacks 3-1.

The under-12 Templars continued their impressive start to the season by claiming all three points at Knebworth.

New signings Ryan Bowles and Tom Gornall were both on target, and with further goals coming from James Berry and Bonham Harper, the Templars eased to a 4-2 victory.

However both the under-12 Crusaders and Knights made an early exit from the League Cup with the Crusaders on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline against Bishop's Stortford Athletic, and the 12 Knights were beaten 9-2 at Symonds Green despite two goals from George Jackson.

Goals from James Graham and George Renney could not prevent the under-14 Templars slipping to a 5-2 defeat at Wymondley Park in their Division One match.

The under-14 Crusaders started their league season at home to Bedwell Rangers, and in a tight game where neither side could break the stalemate each side had to settle for a point in a goalless draw.

The under-14 Knights recorded their second straight victory of the season to make them early Division Thee leaders after a 3-1 win at Sawbridgeworth.

The under-16 Crusaders recorded a fine win at Stevenage Colts. Spurred on by an early James Whenman goal the Crusaders looked anything like a team that finished bottom of the league last season, and it was no surprise when Josh Furness doubled their lead midway through the second half.

Although the home side reduced the arrears to set up a tense closing period, a last minute penalty from Rob Cooke gave the Crusaders a deserved 3-1 victory.

The under-17 Crusaders bounced back from last week's defeat to get their season back on track, as two goals from Elliot Snook and a Ryan Holt strike gave them a 3-1 win over visiting Stansted.

Finally the under-18 Crusaders opened their campaign with a 6-3 defeat against Bishop's Stortford Swifts despite two goals from new signing Tom Cookson and a Harry Holland strike.
