A LACKLUSTRE first-half performance from a depleted under-12 Blues side saw them concede three sloppy goals against Knebworth Youth. Cougars raised their game in the second half and soon clawed a goal back when Lloyd Bowman headed home from a well worked corner. Sam Muncey then scored the goal of the game when he latched onto a brilliant lay off from Sam Deville. He burst through the Knebworth defence, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home. Cougars pressed for the equaliser but the home side clung onto the win with some desperate defending. Both under-nine sides went 2-0 down in the first half of their matches, against Hitchin, and were unable to alter the scorelines after the break. The games were closely fought but Cougars were not able to capitalise on their many chances. Liam Price and George Ganellin were very unlucky for the A team. Matthew Coote worked tirelessly for the B side while Josh Poulton was unable to convert. Brave defending from Emma Phillipson and Emma Trehearn and keeper Ellie Hawkins could not stop the under-10 girls losing 11-0 against Luton Town Belles.
