Melbourn Judo Club sent a squad of 20 to the BJA Eastern Area Championships at the weekend and came back with an impressive haul of medals.

Kellie Lucken and James Nisbet won gold, while Emma Reid, Dominic Hill and Megan Sorensen added three silvers to the bag.

Jade Bevan, Matthew Bevan, Alexandra Hill, Cameron Ramsay, Tom Brown and Charles Triggs all claimed bronze medals in their respective categories.

The impressive collection of medals meant Melbourn finished third overall, finishing behind Saffron Walden and Nortfolk based club Kumo.

Chief instructor Derek Coult said: "The future looks bright and we are now looking forward to our next competition at the weekend."
