A 216-run fourth wicket partnership between Mike Harris and Andrew Holmes was the cornerstone of Chrishall's 98-run victory at Aspenden on Sunday.

Coming together with the visitors on a precarious 22 for 3, the pair took the game away from Aspenden's reach with a fine display of aggressive counter-attacking cricket.

Harris, who reached his century off just 87 balls, pounded the hosts' bowling attack into submission with seven sixes and seven fours, while Holmes provided able support, reaching his ton off 118 balls, that included one six and 12 fours.

A total of 246 was always a tall order for the hosts, and their cause was sunk by a spell of 5-20 from Chrishall debutant Craig McConnachie, which saw him take a wicket with his first ball for the club.

As a result Chrishall cruised to a sparkling opening-day victory.
