The first team could total only 143 against Great Shelford, thanks to another shining innings from Kirk Chilton, and worthy contributions from Richard Brunt and Steve Gardner - who hit a top score of 43.
Chishill then paid the price for failing to remove Great Shelford's danger man who went on to an undefeated 48.
Captain Angus Gent did take three wickets in as many overs to make life difficult for their opponents, but nonetheless, Shelford ran out winners by four wickets.
Chishill's seconds battled hard against Stapleford, despite losing by 102 runs.
Eric Manning was Great Chishill's main threat, hitting 24 not out in their 131-9.
