A TRAVELLING chess roadshow came to Royston at the weekend in the form of the Hertfordshire Open Congress.
Hosted at The Meridian School in Garden Walk, 170 contestants gathered from all over the county to take part in an intense competition.
Cups and prizes were presented to the winners by Anthony Burrows, the president of the Letchworth and Hitchin Chess Club.
Tim Thurston, president of the Hertfordshire Chess Association was also in attendance.
The weekend's main event, the Open Championship was won by former Royston resident Lorin D'Costa who is also ranked at number 62 in the UK rankings.
Lorin said: "To win this championship on home soil was superb.
