THE Knebworth Cheetahs continued their recent good form and climbed up the table with another well-earned victory against an under-strength Royston Town team on Sunday morning.

After a couple of early strikes that went wide from Ewan Fewell and Taylor Wilson, the visitors got into the game and forced two good saves from 'keeper Steffan Jones.

However, after a quick counterattack Knebworth took the lead when Wilson played in Ryan Manson and he made no mistake from close range.

As the Royston team began to understandably tire in the second period, the Cheetahs took control of the game and when a short corner routine resulted in a shot from Manson, Fewell was on hand to snap up the spilt ball after the Royston 'keeper had initially saved.

A pass from Fewell allowed Manson to score his second and Knebworth's third towards the end of the game.

Nathan Parker, Wilson and Manson all had further chances to increase the lead but in the end the home team were happy to take another three points.

Credit to Royston for a spirited display despite their problems and it was testimony to their efforts that Thomas Porter was man-of-the-match in defence for Knebworth after dealing with a tricky opponent all morning but not giving him too much opportunity.

THE Knebworth Cheetahs Blacks have forced their way to the top of the table after yet another encouraging performance against a difficult Royston Town team.

Travis Hambleton went close in the opening minute, but fired over the bar and then Royston threatened from a corner that was finally cleared.

Charlie Unwin, having another superb game on the left, then created an opening for Hambleton to score into an empty goal.

Unwin and then Mitchell Rogers had further opportunities before half-time.

Royston came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and forced a number of scrambled clearances by the Knebworth defence.

With Rogers feeling unwell he was replaced by Josh Allen and his first contribution was a nice touch into the path of Harry Isherwood who then fired home for 2-0.

Allen was becoming a threat with several surges into the box and one shot that went narrowly over.

Shortly after, the teasing Charlie Unwin was brought down around 15 yards from goal and Archie Garrett stepped up to smash the free-kick into the net for 3-0.

Royston got back into the game when a headed clearance went over Cook in the Knebworth goal for 3-1, but this revival was short-lived as Garrett scored his second and Knebworth's fourth goal.

Unwin almost capped a tremendous display with a goal near the end only to see his shot come off the crossbar. A special mention should go to Max Whittle in defence who did not put a foot wrong all morning.
