Royston Celtic U-8 A 0 Melbourn Dynamos A 4 MELBOURN produced an emphatic win on a sunny morning, with Charles Johnson on target four times. Playing uphill and into the breeze, Dynamos dominated from early on, with Ben Webb's head almost converting James Rushton's fine lobbed cross. Sam Bedlow then made it to the by-line and crossed to Webb, whose shot was well stopped. Webb's intelligent pass then put Rushton through, whose powerful shot was parried to Johnson's left foot for the opening goal. Bedlow almost made it two, with a stinging shot well saved. Defenders James Fowkes and Alex Maskell continued to deal with the bouncing ball well for a first-half lead. Dynamos carried their good passing and movement into the second half, and top-scorer Johnson was sharpest in the box to slot home the second. He was again quickest to the loose ball for his hat-trick soon after. But Johnson saved his best for last, with a brilliant half-volley to the far corner, following a perfect corner delivery by James Fowkes. Fairlands Youth U-10 B 1 Melbourn Dynamos Tigers 3 TIGERS inflicted Fairlands' first home defeat of the season with a patient performance. Clyde Thompson almost got the match off to a perfect start with a turn and shot in the box that narrowly missed, before Ben Catley clipped the bar with a fine effort from long range. Byron Lawrence dominated midfield, but it took saving tackles from Ben Jones and Andy Wilkins to prevent Fairlands scoring on the break. In the second half, Lawrence was a constant threat and put Tigers into the lead with a left-foot drive. Fairlands responded almost immediately, with a two-on-one break for the equaliser. Sam Robsinson displayed good handling to keep further Fairlands attacks at bay, and Melbourn got the benefit when Lawrence netted his second after Josh Chamberlain put him through with a great ball out of defence. With the clock ticking down, Carrington secured victory with a trademark goal that gave the keeper no chance. It was a good win that keeps Tigers title hopes firmly in their own hands. Knebworth B 1 Royston Celtic B 2 CELTIC returned from Knebworth with the Crow League points after a good performance. Guy Curtis and Woods were proving formidable in the centre, and just before half-time Woods fired home a superb goal from a rebound attempt by Alex Brain. The second half was as nail-biting as the first, with end-to-end play, and neither side gaining the upper hand. Celtic scored again through Connor after a lovely move involving Curtis and Anthony Lane, who drew the goalkeeper to make the opening for the goal. Knebworth were by no means beaten, and pushed for a goal with a near chance just going over the bar, but it was Celtic's win, and they thoroughly deserved it. Royston Celtic U-8 B 0 Melbourn Dynamos B 2 DYNAMOS' good recent form continued with a comfortable win. The hosts made easy work of the slope, and aware defensive covering by Tom Hollway and Greg Cattley denied Royston any first-half advantage. Dynamos soon took the lead, as Twyman entered the box from the left to see his crisp, side-footed finish to the corner give Celtic keeper no chance. Substitute Luke Oades came on and kept the neat passing going. Striker Charlie Weber's speed with the ball was a constant threat to Royston, and a dip of the shoulder split the defence wide open, as he rounded the keeper to slot home the second. Royston Colts U-8 A 6 Hormead Hares A 1 COLTS once again showed what they are capable of when they play as a team. Rhys Westbury and Justin Leavers both scored hat-tricks, but this game was not about that as all the goals came because of the passing and working for each other. Jacob Townsend in goal controlled his defence and was unlucky for the goal. Jorden Cooney was strong at the back, working well with Alister Richardson and Bradley Calvert, and Danny Mynott ran the midfield. Royston Colts U-8 B 0 Hormead Hares B 2. THE B side did not fare so well as their first team. The first goal was a sloppy affair but Hares second was a well-worked goal that Colts could do nothing about The only consolation was it seemed that Hares played some of their A team players. Fairlands Youth U-10 A 0 Melbourn Dynamos Panthers 6 MELBOURN'S winning run continued in windy conditions which suited their passing game. Although it was a home team that started better and hit the post with their first attack of the game, it was Dynamos who took the lead after several good chances were being created. Sam Webb broke the deadlock when calmly slotting home a Toby Jackson through ball. Goal number two followed soon after when Patrick Hopper used his pace to break clear of the defence and smash the ball low into the net for the second. Skipper Nathan Henry added number three when his inswinging corner went in off the keeper's knee for a deserved goal. The best move of the game was left to the last minute of the first half, when almost every member of the team was involved before Reece Kings perfect pass found Webb in space and his curling shot found the top corner of the net for the fourth of the half. Formation changes were made at half time, allowing keeper Craig Stalker the opportunity to show the strikers how it's done and his strength to hold off a defender created the space for his cross-shot to fall to the predator Jack Richardson to add the fifth. With the referee about to blow for the final whistle, Richardson still had enough time to bring the ball under control on the edge of the box and half volley the ball into the top of the net for the best goal of the game.
