County Cup

Celtic put in a great team effort as they ran out 6-0 winners against Bedwell Rangers under-12 Reds in the County Cup.

Manager Neil Pinner made a change putting Justin Leavers up front and James Rushton to right midfield and it worked wonders as Leavers scored four and Rushton got one.

Bedwell are a good side but could not cope with Leavers' pace and strength, great passing from Richard Jonas and George Bailey and tough tackling from Ben Webb once again at the back.

Robbie Ponting was never going to concede and kept his tenth clean sheet in all competitions thanks to the help of his back four.

Jack Mills played the sweeper role to perfection with good support from Callum Pinner and Lorcan George and while Eamon Henderson had a great game.

The first goal saw Leavers receive the ball from Rushton and shoot from outside the box into the far corner and the second was a carbon copy.

Great work from Rushton resulted in him playing in Leavers who, from outside the box, saw the goalkeeper off the line and chipped it over his head.

Jonas worked very hard down the left flank and it could have been more had it not been for the performance of the Bedwell 'keeper keeping the half time score down to 2-0.

The second half was more of the same with Jonas and Bailey using all their skills and Mills, Pinner, George and Henderson keeping it tight at the back.

Westbury played the ball on from a good kick from Ponting, Leavers gained control, beat three defenders and slotted home when one-on-one with the 'keeper.

Jonas went on a run and beat nearly all the Bedwell team but his shot was deflected. Westbury picked up the loose ball and let fly only to see his shot deflected but Leavers was on hand to power home his fourth of the game.

Leavers then turned provider sending over a corner for Westbury to head home a well deserved.

Then Tom McGlynn, Edward Atkins and Joseph Ryding came on and all gave good support to the centre backs once again showing what a great squad this is.

This was almost a perfect performance from Celtic. All the players want to do well for each other and the results speak for themselves with the team unbeaten all season and having only conceded five goals while scoring 46.

Once again a big thank you must go to Neil Pinner the manager and coaches Andy Silenti and Steve Dobbyne who must be really pleased with the players.
