CAROLYN Devaney won the Spring Meeting and Pulsatilla Cup at Royston Golf Club last week.

The 21 handicapper scored identical halves of 45 to record a nett 71, despite two sevens on the back nine.

Her score also qualified her for the Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge in September.

Jenny Jarvis took second spot in the silver division, edging out Jane Millership, while Joan Buckerfield won the bronze division ahead of Alice Lewis and Gill Drewery.

Peter Noyce returned to competitive golf last week and won the Midweek Golfers Medal with a nett 68. However he did not have it all his own way with five players on nett 68.

Jim Hopkins was second, Fred Wilding third, former Captain John Kelly was fourth and Alan Evans fifth.

Saturday saw the annual Hospital Charity Cup raising funds for Royston Hospital and Chris Taylor was pipped on countback by Colin Clements with Trevor Deards third.

Nigel Thomas won another Medal on Sunday, recording an excellent nett 63.

Richard Howorth (74-5=69) edged out his playing partner Chris Watson (72-3=69) although Watson took the scratch prize.

In division two, Simon Clark recorded a nett 65, which gave him a four stroke cushion over Terry Bonnett. Graham Toby was third.
