THRIPLOW seconds completed a successful double for the club with a consummate victory over a lacklustre Helions Bumpstead.

Opening Thriplow bowlers Tom Care and Andrew Woolley found the humid, swing-friendly conditions to their liking and wickets soon began to tumble.

Brazier went for a duck, before Care bowled the next four batsmen to take the first five wickets in a brilliant a solo performance.

Poor Woolley could only rue his luck as his challenging spell of 10-6-14-0 remained unrewarded, while Care ended his spell with a splendid 10-3-14-5.

Helions Bumpstead were at 29 for 5 half way through their innings, and the change of bowling did nothing to release the shackles.

Jeremy Tuck replaced Care at the pavilion end and Richie Turner replaced Woolley.

And clearly the pavilion was the end of choice because Tuck (5-0-11-3) took the next three wickets to fall, while Turner, for all his guile and variation remained wicketless and relatively expensive with 6-3-13-0.

A further round of bowling changes saw the back of Bumpstead for only 53, with Robert Craze taking a wicket in his only over, while Theo Giasemidis took the last wicket with his first ball.

With a meagre total to chase, Thriplow were able to open up with the new pairing of Craze and Giasemidis.

They lost Craze for a single, but Walker and Giasemidis steered them back on track.

Thriplow lost Walker (7), before Carr came in and took control with a cool 10, and alongside Giasemidis (35 not out) saw them home with more than 20 overs to spare.
