THE traditional end of the old golfing year and the start of the new one will be held at Heydon Grange on Saturday.
The celebration, at 9.30am, involves the old captains Tony Leigh, Daphne Boreham and Alan Parkes putting out on the 18th green.
This will be followed by the new captains, Adrian Patterson the 2008 club captain, lady captain Linda Williams and venerable captain Colin Edge driving off from the first.
David Smallman of Heydon Grange said: "The event, which is always well attended by club members, raises money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the Macmillan Nurses through a fun raffle where the winners are those who can best judge the distance each Captain drives to.
"Whether that is six inches or 260 yards depends entirely on the Captains' ability to conquer both their nerves and the barracking from the assembled crowd."
An 18-hole mixed competition follows the drive in which will include a beat the pro challenge.
