In sunshine befitting a June morning rather than the predicted bleak February rain and snow, Heydon Grange held their captain's drive-in. New club captain Malcolm Knobel-Forbes has been joined by Roz McKenzie and Ron Webster, ladies' and seniors' captains respectively. The drive in followed the traditional end of year putting out by Steve Lang, Elaine Knobel-Forbes and Mervyn Cooke. During the past year, Heydon Grange Golf Club raised £6000 for the Ataxia and Scope Charities. For the coming year, the captains have agreed to raise funds for Ataxia and the East Anglian Air Ambulance and a record £1400.00 was raised at the drive-in. Malcolm Knobel-Forbes expressed his sincere thanks to all the members who contributed to make the day such a special occasion and also thanked the Akhtar family for the support they always give on charity days. Bob Butfoy, the head green keeper, and his team were also thanked for keeping the course in such excellent condition; which all bodes well for the return of the EuroPro tour to Heydon Grange in June. Winners of the Stableford competition held on the day were Phil Black who took the men's prize with 39 points, Tammini Hurst who dominated the ladies section with an impressive 43 points and the ladies longest drive, and David Soanes who secured the seniors prize with 35 points. The junior award went to Adam McKenzie.
