GRENEWAY'S year six tag rugby team have been strutting their stuff on the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium.

Having been invited to the first ever Eastern Region Barbarians Tournament, the pupils played out of their skin and finished their two matches unbeaten.

They were also, along with their teachers, given a tour of the stadium and then stayed on to watch the evening match between the Barbarians and Australia, the first ever rugby match to be held at the stadium.

After many photo opportunities around the stadium, including a team photo at the foot of the Bobby Moore memorial statue (right), the players and coaches were able to get on the turf for their eagerly awaited games.

In their first , the mixed boys' and girls' ten-a-side team played St.John's School from Watford with honours finishing even. Greneway scored five tries through Callum Pinner (2), Justin Leavers, Charlie Baldwin and Matt Moore, while female players Christy Stubbs, Sophie Shannon and Mille Derbyshire-Ryall also went close as the Greneway girls showed excellent skills.

The second game of 15 minutes paired Greneway against a robust Belmore School from Hayes in Middlesex.

Freddy Stuart, Leah Parcell, Hannah Smith and Anna Worsey created some excellent chances early on with Robbie Ponting, Justin Leavers and Danny Mynott scoring excellent tries and Sam Chapman, Robbie Filby and Matt Moore were also impressive in defence as Greneway's highly effective teamwork ensured they just edged the match by seven tries to six.

With great seats, the school's contingent then watched the game between the Barbarians and Australia, with the latter running out 18-11 winners.
