There was frustration for Buntingford on Saturday when the weather denied them what looked like a certain victory against Bishop's Stortford.

Heavy overnight rain and overcast conditions meant captain Richard Pearce had no hesitation in putting Bishop's Stortford into bat when he won the toss.

Although the Buntingford attack initially restricted the flow of runs, four dropped catches allowed Stortford to push on, and at one stage they looked on course for a score of more than 200.

However, Syed Haque had other ideas, and four quick wickets kept the batsmen in check.

By the close of their innings, Stortford had reached 194-8, with Haque recording figures of 4-28.

Pearce, Martin Coote, and Scott Nash all scored well as the Buntingford reply started positively.

Although light drizzle was falling throughout the afternoon, the captains agreed to play on and try to get a result.

With seven overs remaining, Buntingford required 36 runs to win, but the heavens opened and no further play was possible.
